About me

Hello-

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who has been in the helping profession for 8 years.

When I graduated with my bachelor’s degree in 1996, I worked as a worker’s compensation adjuster for 12 years. The money was great, but I hated working in that field. Eventually, the company I was working for downsized, so I was laid off. From there, I was lost and didn’t know what to do. Should I continue to stay in the same line of work for the next 12 years, dreading to get out of the bed every day for the money, or should I find a career that will help me utilize my own personal experiences and education to make a difference in the lives of others? I chose to follow my heart. When I took my first counseling class, I knew being a counselor was my calling in life. This is what I was born to do. I realized the most important thing in the world is not how much money you make; it’s about enjoying the work you do. Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying I don’t enjoy making money, but I know I wasn’t happy. Being a counselor makes me feel alive, full of hope, and purpose. Educating clients on how to manage their mood disorders, stressors, or providing guidance to some of the most difficult challenges in a person’s life is what I live for.

I want you to know that I am here for you. We can face life’s challenges together.

Sincerely,

Sharon Esters

Sharon understands what I needed to work on myself and I always feel safe to say things that I am not comfortable telling to others.

Sharon is wonderful. She listens to you intently and makes you comfortable when you tell her what's going on in your life or when expressing how you're feeling. She'll help to reframe your perspective on a certain situation and truly understands and will empathize with what you're going through, even sharing some tidbits of her own life to demonstrate that. I feel free to talk to her about anything and we actually have a conversation instead of it being one sided. I no longer dread going to therapy sessions because of her. I couldn't recommend her enough.
