About me

I am a Professional Counselor (Clinical Mental Health Counselor) licensed in Tennessee and North Carolina with over 30 years of experience working as a mental health/behavioral health therapist. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including LGBTQIA (I'm gay), gender dysphoria, bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, grief, dual diagnosis (mental health and addiction), career challenges, family of origin issues, self-esteem, and more. I also helped many people who have experienced physical trauma or emotional abuse.

My therapy style is warm and interactive. I believe in treating anyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and I don't believe in stigmatizing labels. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, dialectical-behavioral, mindfulness, psychodynamic and rational-emotive therapy. I will tailor our dialogue and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.

It takes courage to seek a more fulfilling and happier life, and to take the first steps towards change. If you are ready to take that step, I am here to support and empower you.

I look forward to working with you!

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Dr. Ricci Hellman. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

Ricci's patience, understanding, and guidance has helped me navigate my family relationships and personal decisions tremendously. Ricci helped me find strength in making decisions and helped me realize that "Just because it's someone else's reality, doesn't mean that it has to be yours". So grateful for the time spent!

Dr. Hellman is one of the the kindest, most genuine people I’ve ever met. She made me feel comfortable the first time we met at her previous practice (I followed her to better help). She listens intently and does a great job of gently finding ways for me to see when I’m missing something. I trust her more than any other mental healthcare provider I’ve worked with

A great therapist who respects my time and boundaries. She's flexible enough to accommodate my needs outside of my initial issues, but never loses sight of my primary concerns. Nurturing, supportive, and insightful.
